CAPRI repeats call for government to increase  income tax threshold to $2.5m

The Caribbean Policy Research Institute, CAPRI, has repeated its call for government to increase the income tax threshold to 2 point 5 million dollars.

The matter was raised Thursday evening, by CAPRI’S Executive Director Dr. Damien King, during his presentation on the report entitled, ‘Budget Breakdown, An Analysis of the Government’s Revenue and Expenditure Proposals’.

Dr King outlined some issues with the income tax system, such as, being inefficient, inequitable, and easy to evade. 

He expressed concern with the continued reliance on income tax.

He said raising the income tax threshold will correct some disadvantages faced by many people.
