Ask International Dancehall star Sean Paul who is dominating the dancehall right now, he may name names, but the international media is pointing to Sean Paul.
Over two (2) decades since his career started, Sean Paul remains the man dominating the dancehall according to the international media.
Taking the stage earlier this week in Houston, Texas as part of his US tour, Sean Paul was lauded by the international media with the Houston Press labeling him “the greatest” in the dancehall.
Highlighting his stagecraft, catalogue and energy at 51 years old, as the looks and moves of the same young man they were introduced to at the beginning of the century, the media says he has still got the magic.
Noting that his show was the most energetic and loudest they have witnessed at the Music Hall in Texas, they ascribed to him the description of “an icon in dancehall, responsible for ushering in the rhythms of dancehall/reggae mixed with Hip Hop to worldwide acclaim” adding that ‘his music is as irresistible now as it was twenty (20) years ago’, simply wrapping with “He really is the Greatest.”
In a music news chat, as he was undertaking a twenty (20) hour drive to his next stop on tour, we asked Sean Paul to react to being lauded in this manner and what he thinks has accounted for his longevity and continued relevance locally and internationally.
He says he has brought several artistes on tour alongside him as he aims to help them carry their careers to the same heights. This, while adding that his greatest experience on this tour has been the ability to connect with fans.
Meanwhile, he says seven (7) shows remain with Denver being the next destination.
