Dental surgeons in the public sector to receive their new salaries and fringe benefits package this month

By Markelia Rumble

Dental surgeons employed by the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Regional Health Authorities are set to receive their new salaries and fringe benefits package this month.

The update was provided in a statement issued today by the Union of Clerical and Administrative Employees (UCASE).

This announcement follows concerns raised by UCASE regarding the delay in implementing the anticipated salary adjustments outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding signed on October 8, 2024, by former Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke.

The new salary rates were expected to take effect in November; however, the payments were not made, leading to significant frustration among dental surgeons.

UCASE also confirmed that the Ministry of Finance has assured retroactive payments will be made, effective April 1, 2022.

UCASE President Vincent Morrison expressed gratitude to the Finance Ministry for resolving the issue, noting that the delay had caused restlessness among the workers.
