Monument honouring cops who died to be set up in Kingston

The government will be setting up a monument to honour police officers who died in the line of duty.

National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, gave the commitment while addressing the recent police federation conference, in St. James.

Dr. Chang said among the proposed locations for the monument are the waterfront park and the police plaza in downtown Kingston.

He said the process of acquiring land for the monument should be completed this year.

On Tuesday, the Jamaica police Federation paid tribute to 31 rank and file cops who passed away between May 2023 and this year.

It was noted that four of the officers died in the line of duty including Constable Ricardo Fairclough who was fatally shot in St. Ann on April 15 when he intervened in a robbery.
