National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang says his ministry is seeking to improve relations with the Jamaica Police Federation.

In recent times, there have been disagreements between the ministry and the federation.

On numerous occasions, the federation made calls for issues affecting members such as outstanding salary payments, to be addressed.

Many of these calls have been made on a public platform.

Speaking at the 81st annual joint central conferences of the Jamaica Police Federation now underway in St. James, Dr. Chang said he wants both entities to have a good relationship, so they can work directly with each other to address issues adequately.

The Jamaica Police Federation this morning paid tribute to 31 police officers who passed away between May 2023 and May, this year.

Four of the officers died in the line of duty.

They include Constable Ricardo Fairclough who was shot and killed by gunmen in St. Ann’s Bay, St. Ann, on April 15.

Constable Fairclough had intervened in a robbery.

Speaking at the 81st annual joint central conferences of the Jamaica Police Federation now underway in St. James, JCF Chaplain Dr. Gary Buddoo-Fletcher praised the fallen officers for their service to nation building, while noting that they paid the ultimate price.

He said their inspiring stories of selfless acts of kindness and bravery should be celebrated.
