The West Indies women’s cricketers are now searching for a new head coach.
This after regional governing body cricket west indies, decided against renewing the contract of the incumbent Courtney Walsh, along with those of Technical Assistant coaches Robert Samuels and Corey Collymore following a review of the senior women’s team performances and programme.
Walsh began his tenure in October 2020.
During his time in charge of the West Indies women’s team, he oversaw home and away series wins to Pakistan and secured a semi-final spot at the ICC women’s 50-over Cricket world Cup in 2022.
Cricket West Indies Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams in a statement lauded the contributions made by walsh and his technical team over the past two-and-a-half years…adding they wished them all the best going forward.
Adams a former teammate of Walsh on the ‘Windies men’s team, further went on to state that cricket west indies remains committed to the international women’s programme, and will now be focusing on recruiting a new head coach and technical support team,
Adams made it clear that an Interim Technical support team will be put in place during the recruitment period.
The Windies women in the meantime are currently second from bottom on the icc women’s championship on 2 points having picked up one solitary win and 5 losses.
They will next be in action when Ireland tour the Caribbean for three one day internationals and a 3-match T/20 international series.
