Gov’t to outline consultative process where communities can help determine which roads should be repaired

The Government has pledged to outline a consultative process where communities can help determine which roads should be repaired.

Speaking with IRIE FM news, Chairman of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party, Robert Montague, says the consultative process will be outlined at the next sitting of parliament.

He explains that the process is part of the Government’s $40 billion ‘Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to our Road Network’ (SPARK) programme.

Mr. Montague also notes that the $40 billion was generated by taxpayers and was not obtained through any loan arrangement.

He says although communities will have a say in which roadways are repaired, priority ought to be given to thoroughfares which are considered to be sore points in communities.
