5 people murdered in the country over the past 18 hours

At least five people were murdered in separate incidents across the island last night.

Dead are 32-year-old Jerome Evans  and 37-year-old Jerome Longman, both of Retirement district, and 22-year-old LeSean Thompson of Hendon Norwood all in St. James,  23-year-old Shava Fitzgerald of Cox Mountain, St. Catherine and 44-year-old Tysen Bowen, of White River in Buff Bay, Portland.

Three of the incidents occurred in St. James, and 1 each occurred in St. Catherine and Portland.

In the latest incident, Evans and Longman were killed on Tucker Crescent in St. James.

Reports are that at about 10:15pm, citizens stumbled upon evans along a section of the roadway and contacted the police. 

Lawmen who responded found Evans lying along the roadway, suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and upper body. 

Further checks resulted in the police finding Longman lying in bushes nearby, with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and left foot.

Both men were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Over in Hendon, Norwood, Thompson was killed at about 8:55 pm.

Residents reportedly heard gunshots and alerted the police. 

The cops found Thompson suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. 

He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

And, in St. Catherine, Fitzgerald was shot at his home, at about 8:30 p.m. 

Residents reportedly heard explosions and summoned the police.

Fitzgerald was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

He later died at hospital.

Meanwhile, Bowen was shot while at a barbershop in Buff Bay Portland at about 7:50 pm.

Reports are that a gunman entered the barber shop, opened fire at Bowen, then fled the scene. 

Bowen was later pronounced dead at hospital.

The police are investigating the five murders.
