The St Ann police are reporting an increase in murders in the parish.
Head of the St Ann police Senior Superintendent of Police Dwight Powell made the disclosure at a press conference earlier this week.
According to SSP Powell, there have been 16 murders in the parish as at Wednesday compared to 11 for the similar period last year.
There have, however, been decreases in robberies and break ins.
SSP Powell said the parish has recorded 9 robberies compared to 25 for the corresponding period last year.
In the meantime, he said break ins saw the most significant reduction with 18 in comparison to 38.
However, he said the parish is experiencing challenges with shootings, but measures have been put in place to curtail this.
