The Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) is being supported by regional partners to advance negotiations with the finance ministry on public sector compensation reform.

Delegates of the Caribbean Public Services Association (CPSA) are in Jamaica, and will participate in several high-level meetings, starting today (March 7).

The delegates are being hosted by the JCSA and the Jamaica Association of Local Government officers.

They arrived yesterday and paid a courtesy call on head of HCSA, Techa Clarke Griffiths.

A statement from the JCSA, said the delegation included, General Secretary of the Dominica Public Services Union and the CPSA, Thomas Letang, president of the Dominica Public Service Union, Steve Joseph and president general of the National Union of Government and Federated Workers of Trinidad and Tobago, James Lambert.

The delegation welcomed the opportunity to advance the JCSA agenda and underscored their unwavering support of the union’s stance, for the ministry of finance and the public service to resolve outstanding issues under the compensation restructuring exercise.

Some 16 members of the delegation will participate in meetings, which will be held from today March 7 through to March 9.

The meetings will be held in Kingston and will bring together delegates from the labour movement in the region, to address pressing issues impacting the trade union movement and its affiliates.

At the meetings, key issues affecting the unions in the region will be discussed and support given where needed.
