Commissioner of the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), Hugh Faulkner says discussions are being held with the relevant agency to fast-track ballistic reports for shooting incidents involving the security forces.
Acknowledging that the Institute of Forensic Science and Legal Medicine has challenges, Mr. Faulkner says INDECOM wants to bring closure to affected families.
Meanwhile, Mr. Faulkner says the 626 cases were disposed of between January and June this year.
He said 412 of the cases were concluded with a commission’s report while 214 were closed on initial intervention.
Ninety-three officers in 52 cases were recommended for disciplinary action.
He says for this year INDECOM has 64 cases pending before the courts.
