Agriculture Minister Floyd Green has pledged that his ministry will support the Egg Farmers Association, in setting up a campaign, aimed at boosting egg consumption.

Speaking on Wednesday at the association’s meeting in Ocho Rios, St Ann, Mr Green commended egg farmers for their efforts, in recent years, to increase production.

This he said as reduced the need to import table eggs.

According to minister Green since 2017, there has been a 39.4 percent increase in the production of eggs.

Mr Green however noted that increased production, coupled with limited consumption could lead to another problem, a glut in the egg market.

He said a public education campaign will help increase consumption of eggs.
