600 confirmed Dengue cases

The Health Ministry is reporting that Jamaica now has over 600 confirmed Dengue cases.

In an update Thursday, the ministry indicated that the country has on record 2,763 suspected, presumed, and confirmed Dengue cases, as of Wednesday, November 1.

694 are confirmed cases, with Dengue type two continuing to be the dominant strain.

The ministry also indicated that the number of Dengue-related deaths now stands at 9, of which 7 are classified as suspected, while 2 are confirmed.  

It said all parishes continue to observe an increase in dengue cases compared to 2022, with Kingston and St. Andrew reporting the highest number of cases.

The ministry said of the suspected, presumed, and confirmed cases, there were more males than females, with the highest number of cases observed in the 5 to 14-year-old cohort.
