UCASE withdraws strike notice issued to Spectrum Management Authority

The Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees, UCASE, has withdrawn the strike notice it issued to the Spectrum Management Authority on Friday.

This following a meeting with the Ministry of Labour on Monday.

The strike notice stemmed from reports of a series of dismissals of employees, including the union delegate.

UCASE General Secretary John Levy said the dismissals were executed, using the fixed term contract non renewal system.

Providing an update on the situation this morning, Mr. Levy noted that the union has agreed to have further discussions on the issues and report back to the Ministry on April 2.

Mr. Levy expressed hope that the government will address the vexing issue of fixed term contracts within the public sector.
