Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry has tendered his resignation as the country descends into chaos.
The 74-year-old announced he would step aside late yesterday.
Heads of Government of seven Caribbean nations, eight international partner countries and personnel from the United Nations met in Kingston yesterday to discuss the security situation in Haiti.
Haiti has been plagued by spiralling violence in recent weeks as armed gangs have taken control calling for Henry to go.
In announcing his resignation, Mr Henry appealed for calm and said a transitional council would be established after he steps aside.
