All eyes and ears will be on the Appeal Court this afternoon, as it hands down its decision on the matter relating to dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel and his co-appellants.
The session is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
Lawyers representing the appellants are hoping that the ruling will be in the men’s favour, while the prosecution is hoping that the court will declare that the men be retried.
Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer; along with fellow artiste Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell; Kahira Jones; and Andre St. John, are expected to know their fate today.
In 2014, the men were sentenced to life imprisonment, for the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
In march this year, their murder convictions were quashed by the United Kingdom-based Privy Council, due to jury tampering, the case was sent back to the local court for a determination on re-trial.
Last month, the prosecution and defense made submissions, after which the court indicated that it would make its ruling by the end of July.
