Labour minister to visit farms in North America amid recent allegations of victimization

Labour minister, Pearnel Charles Jr., has indicated that he will be visiting several farms under the overseas farm work programme in North America amid recent allegations of victimization.

The claims reportedly came from some workers who participated in the Canadian work programme, some of whom were sent home early.

The labour minister has launched an investigation into the claims.

He said the visits will facilitate observations and interactions with farm managers, workers and other stakeholders.

In the interim, consultations are ongoing to determine the way forward as it relates to the overseas farm work programme.

Mr Charles Jr has invited stakeholders to send their recommendations to the ministry.
