Is Jah Cure bluffing about his release date?
Social media is buzzing after conflicting reports emerged about Jah Cure’s sentencing.
The incarcerated reggae singer, who has been in pre-trial detention in Amsterdam while awaiting the outcome of the prosecutors’ appeal of his 2022 conviction, recently claimed he’ll be released “in one year and a few months.”
In an Instagram Story, Jah Cure also shared a heartfelt message saying, “To my family, friends and fans affected by this hurricane Melissa, I know you’re going through a lot right now. Stay strong Jamaica we will get through this… SEE YOU IN ONE YEAR AND FEW MONTHS!!”
He paired the post with Bob Marley’s “Don’t Worry” and Skylar Grey’s “I’m Coming Home.”
However, according to a Jamaica Observer article written by Claude Mills, the Amsterdam Court of Appeal found Jah Cure guilty of attempted murder on October 30 and sentenced him to eight years and four months in prison.
Jah Cure has been in a Dutch prison since 2021. He was initially convicted of attempted manslaughter and sentenced to six years in 2022.
