Six people killed and two injured in Trelawny crash
Six people were killed in a crash at Bogue Gate Trelawny this morning.
At least 2 others are being treated at hospital.
The Jamaica Fire Brigade says it responded to the crash which involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a Panel truck about 7:52 A.M.
Firefighters from the Falmouth Fire Station, supported by personnel from the St. James Fire Station, responded immediately with firefighting and ambulance units to conduct rescue operations.
The JFB says upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found several occupants trapped in both vehicles.
Using specialized rescue equipment, JFB personnel carried out extrication operations to remove the trapped victims.
Three injured males were rescued and transported to the Falmouth Public General Hospital for medical treatment.
The others are reported to have died at the scene.
In the meantime Vice Chairman of the National Road Safety Council Dr. Lucien Jones, says while the trends indicate that crashes spike in the summer period, the number of fatalities in this morning’s crash was not expected.
He is renewing the call for the nation to mobilize and promote road safety and to do all that is possible to prevent road deaths.
