5 killed in separate crashes between yesterday and this morning

Five people were killed in 4 separate motor vehicle crashes between yesterday and this morning.

The crashes occurred in St. Ann, St. Mary and St. Elizabeth. 

Two of the deceased have been identified as, 51 year old Maurice Ireland of Devon Pen and 25 year old Romaine Green of Allepo district, Highgate, both in St. Mary.

Green was killed along the Allepo main road at about 11:30 pm.

Reports are that he was driving a white Nissan Tiida motor car along the roadway when he lost control of the vehicle, which collided with a utility pole.

Green sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

And, hours earlier,  Ireland was killed in a motorcycle crash along the Devon Pen main road, also in St. Mary.

Reports are that at about 6:21 pm, he was driving a motorcycle along the roadway when it collided with another motorcycle. 

Ireland and the other driver sustained injuries and both were taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, and the other man admitted.

In another incident, an unidentified man was killed in St. Elizabeth, this morning.

Reports are that at about 3 a-m, the man was driving a motorcycle along the Newton main road, when he lost control of the bike, which collided with a motor car that was parked along the roadway.

The motorcyclist sustained injuries and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

And, two people were killed in a fiery crash, along the Pear Tree Bottom main road in St. Ann, yesterday.

Reports are that about 3:25 p.m., a Higer Tropical tour bus was being driven towards Discovery Bay, when the tour bus collided with a Toyota Mark X motor car, a BMW motor car and a Toyota Tundra motor truck, which were travelling in the opposite direction.

Three vehicles, the Mark X, BMW and Tundra, were engulfed in flames, while the tour bus ran off the road, partially ending up in the Pear Tree River. 

Police and firefighters responded and following cooling down operations, the charred remains of two people were found among the debris. 

The other vehicle occupants were taken to hospital for treatment. 

The number of people killed in road crashes since the start of the year has increased to 11.
