National Works Agency working to clean up oil spill at the Mammee Bay round-a-bout, following oil tanker crash on Saturday

The National Works Agency (NWA) says works continue to clean up an oil spill at the Mammee Bay round-a-bout in St. Ann, following a crash on Saturday.

A semi trailer tanker truck transporting oil was travelling along the roadway, when it overturned.

There was no report of injury but the truck was severely damaged.

Parts of the vehicle, including the oil tanker were dislodged.

The free flow of traffic was impeded up to yesterday morning, as the truck was still at the crash site.

IRIE FM news understands that it has now been removed.

However, Manager of Communications at the NWA, Stephen Shaw told the IRIE FM news team last evening that the oil spill has not been cleaned completely.

He said the affected lane remains closed.
