JLP expels 7 members following Nomination Day

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has expelled seven members who were nominated yesterday as independent candidates or candidates for the People’s National Party (PNP) for the upcoming local government election.

In a statement, JLP said those expelled are: Eric Wint for the Martha Brae division in Trelawny, Leroy Dunn for the Guys Hill division in St. Catherine, Keith McCook of the Red Hills division and George Planto of the Papine division, both in St. Andrew, Nerpatrick Smith of the Palmers Cross division, Omar White of the Ritches division, and Romaine Morris of the Mocho division, all in Clarendon.

The JLP said these persons were expelled, in keeping with the party’s regulations, as members are prohibited from running against an approved candidate of the party.
