The Chief Executive Officer of the Child Protection and Family Services Agency, CPFSA, is being asked to step aside for the time being, to facilitate investigations into her actions and how the agency handled its relationship with the head of a U-S charity organisation.
The matter relates to a report from the Office of the Children’s Advocate on allegations of abuse connected to the operator of a transitional home for girls, who had been accused of inappropriate behaviour by US authorities.
In giving a statement to Parliament today (January 10), Youth Minister Fayval Williams outlined the series of events that took place in 2018, relating to Carl Robanske-operator of Embracing Orphans, the charity that operated the Fathers Home Transitional Facility for Girls.
Mrs. Williams stated that CPFSA’s CEO, Rosalee Gage-Grey misled and deceived the ministry about the partnership between the agency, fathers home and Jamaica Relief Ministries, which is another entity connected to Robanske.
It’s also reported that Gage-Grey frustrated the investigation by the OCA into the concerns about Robanske.
The minister stated that while its untenable for Mrs. Gage-Grey to continue in her job while the probe is underway, due process by the Public Services Commission must be followed.
Mrs. Williams noted that a zero tolerance stance must be taken with regards to unsatisfactory action by persons entrusted with a duty of care for vulnerable young girls.
