MP and Councillor saddened by shooting which left 2 dead and 5 wounded in Hayes, Clarendon last evening

Member of Parliament for Clarendon South East Pearnel Charles Junior has expressed sadness at the killing of 2 people and the wounding of 5 others in a drive by shooting in Hayes, last evening (July 26).

Dead are 40-year-old Christopher Rommany, a construction worker of Newtown Phase 2, and 16-year-old Demario Gibson a Bustamante High School student, of Hollywood Drive, both in the parish.

It’s reported that Rommany and Demario were among a group of people at a shop in Hayes, when they were pounced upon by gunmen travelling in a Toyota Axio motor car.

The gunmen opened fire on the group, hitting 7 persons.

The wounded persons were taken to hospital where Rommany and Demario were pronounced dead and the others admitted for treatment.

Speaking to Irie Fm News this morning (July 27), Mr. Charles Jr. Said the incident once again, highlights the severe impacts of crime on the country.

He urged law abiding residents not give up hope, but to unite in the fight against crime.

Meantime, Councillor for the Hayes Division in Clarendon Scean Barnswell says the incident has shocked residents.
