The fast improving and current British record holder over 200 meters Zharnel Hughes and the 2019 world championship 200 meters gold medalist Dina Asher-Smith, headline a 51 member Great Britain and Northern Ireland squad selected for the 2023 World Athletics Champs in Budapest, Hungary next month. 

The British squad also features the Olympic 800 meters silver medalist Keely Hodgkinson.

Athletes were required to meet the criteria outlined in the selection policy which included the requirement to demonstrate current form; this included evaluating the athlete’s performances and trajectory from May 1.

The 50 athletes announced today join Natasha Cockram – who was previously confirmed as the sole marathon selection earlier this year – in the team for Budapest.
