Jamaica among 70 teams to secure qualification  for relay events at Paris 2024 Olympic Games  

Jamaica  is  among  70  teams  that  secured  qualification  for  relay  events   at  the  Paris  2024 Olympic  Games   following  the  completion  of  the  World  Athletics  Relays    in  the  Bahamas  yesterday.

Jamaica  qualified  for  the  men  and  womens  4  by  100  metres  relay, the   womens  4  by  400  metres  relay  and  the  mixed  4  by  400  metres  relay….to  qualify  an  overall   four  teams    while  missing  out  on  qualifying  for  the  mens  4  by  400  metres  relay.

Jamaica’s  mens  4  by  100  metres  team  of  Bryan  Levell, Kadrian Goldson, Ryiem  Forde  and  Sandrey  davison clocked  38.88  seconds for 7th  place  in  the  final  to  secure  Jamaica’s   place  in  Paris, while  the quartet  of  Jodian  Williams, Remona  Burchell, Tia  Clayton  and  Alana  Reid  posted  a  season  best  43.33  seconds  while qualifying  for  the  Olympic  Games

Fourteen teams in each of the five disciplines contested   at  the  world  relays  – the women’s and men’s 4x100m and 4x400m plus the mixed 4x400m – automatically qualified for Paris places. 

The first 40 qualified teams were confirmed on saturday and the final 30  yesterday  following a second Olympic qualifying round for teams that missed out on day one.

Teams that qualified on saturday also secured their spots for the respective World Relays finals on Sunday, when they raced for prize money and Olympic lane seeding positions.

USA won four of the five finals………, the womens   4x100m  team  setting a championship record with their 41.85 run and the mixed 4x400m squad achieving the same with their 3:10.73 performance. 

Botswana’s 4x400m men ensured the event ended on a high, running a world leading  time of   of 2 minute:59.11 to win the last race of the weekend.
