Up to 35 children were rushed to hospitals across the Southern Regional Health Authority (SERHA) on Monday, following the earthquake.

Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton gave the figure at a press conference in the aftermath of the 5.6 magnitude quake.

The quake rocked the nation around 10:57 AM.

Dr Tufton said 21 students who were suffering from anxiety, showed up at the Bustamante Hospital for Children and the Kingston Public Hospital.

Of that number, he said at least 10 have been treated and released.

He further stated that another 14 children showed up at the Spanish Town Hospital in St Catherine.

He said they were also treated for episodes of anxiety.

In the meantime, Dr Tufton said the majority of the hospitals in SERHA remain intact.
