Golding calls for all organizations that have an interest in national development to put pressure on Gov’t to have Dr. Andrew Wheatley removed from Cabinet

Opposition Leader Mark Golding has called on well thinking Jamaicans and all organizations that have an interest in national development to put pressure on the Government to have Dr. Andrew Wheatley immediately removed from the Cabinet.

The call follows a report from the Integrity Commission which was tabled in Parliament yesterday.

The Commission has determined that Dr. Wheatley be charged with a number of offences, to include illicit enrichment.

Speaking at a press conference today, Mr. Golding said, with the Government’s stance on integrity already in question, having an individual in Cabinet, who is under the cloud of a pending criminal charge, will only make the situation worse.

Golding also noted that Dr. Wheatley’s claims of evidence to support his defence, is irrelevant at this time.
