National Tourism Council to be established
A National Tourism Council is to be established to support the proposed Tourism Authority.
Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett said the council will comprise tourism stakeholders, investors and representatives from sectors that directly impact tourism.
He said the existing Tourism Linkages Council will be transformed into the National Tourism Council, with representatives from all ministries involved in tourism delivery expected to sit on the body.
According to him, the council will function as a one-stop shop to help stakeholders navigate the requirements, standards and regulations governing the tourism sector.
He was speaking at the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association’s (JHTA) 65th Annual General Meeting and Tourism Forum on Saturday.
