An increased appearance fee is reported to be the primary reason for World 100 metre Champion Sha’carri Richardson pulling out of tomorrow’s Miramar Invitational Track Meet in South Florida.
The American was scheduled to kick off her 2024 campaign at the meet in the 100 and 200 metre events….which included a mouthwatering showdown with world 200 metre champion Shericka Jackson…..but withdrew citing, that it’s a new year, and therefore it should be a new approach.
Now multiple reports are suggesting that her appearance fee has gone up, with the 24-year-old reportedly pocketing six figures……which rules her out of attending most meets like she previously did last season.
Richardson, who won her first global title in Budapest last year is one of the most famous and influential track and field stars, having several endorsements in her name….and also having allegedly signed a massive $20 million dollar contract with nike which is said to be one of….if not the biggest in athletics history behind legendary Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt.
She is listed to open her Diamond League season in Xiamen, China where she will contest the women’s 200 metre event on April 20.
