Jamaican Chris Elliott has been appointed by the FIA the global governing body for motor-sports to its Drag Racing Commission.

The historic appointment sees Elliott becoming the first Jamaican to perform duties in a motor sport capacity within the FIA.

He will serve for a period of two years.

The FIA Drag Racing Commission, like others that regulate different motorsports such as Formula 1, decides on rules, regulations, safety and development of Drag Racing in 147 countries on five continents.

The Commission is headed by Malta Motorsport Federation president Duncan Micallef.
