The Office of Utilities Regulation, OUR will be conducting a scientific assessment, to determine how the closure of some of the Jamaica Public Service, JPS offices has impacted citizens.
The utility company closed seven of its offices in 2021 as part of its decision to shift to a new digital customer service system.
Despite JPS’ commitment to maintain a presence in the communities which experienced closures, several residents, especially in St Elizabeth and Clarendon, expressed dissatisfaction about the situation.
Speaking during a virtual event last evening, OUR’s Director General, Ansord Hewitt said the scientific assessment will determine if alternative strategies implemented after the closures are satisfying the needs of customers.
It comes in the wake of another analysis conducted in 2021
Mr. Hewitt noted that the OUR has already hired a consultant to conduct the scientific assessment.
