The use of States of Emergency, SOEs across the country is enabling Jamaica to carry out its constitutional duty to protect citizens.
This, according to Member of Parliament for St. James West Central and Minister of Legal and Constitutional Affairs, Marlene Malahoo Forte.
Speaking at the Harmony Beach Park in St. James at the weekend, Mrs. Malahoo Forte noted the mixed reactions to the SOEs.
She explained that government has a duty to protect its top resource – its people, and the SOEs allow for the fulfillment of that duty.
She reiterated that the SOEs are meant to keep Jamaicans safe.
