This is 46 more than the 1, 375 recorded in the similar period, last year.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, St. James recorded the highest number of murders, with 192;
Followed by St. Catherine North, and Westmoreland with 136 each.
There were also increases in cases of robbery and break-ins.
Robberies increased by 143, from 712, to 855, while break-ins went up by 73, from 850 to 923.
Meanwhile, there was a decline in reported cases of rape.
