The Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA) is stressing the need for more ackees to be grown for export.
President of the JMEA, John Mahfood explains that despite the country’s ackee exports amounting to an estimated USD 20 million per year, there is a shortage of the product, as not enough is being grown.
Mr. Mahfood says it is important that the country does what is necessary to boost ackee sales.
This, he notes includes Government’s involvement in the growing process.
Mr. Mahfood was speaking at an anniversary awards luncheon for technological solutions limited, yesterday (June 30).
