PNP reiterates that Jamaica is experiencing an economic recession despite contrary claims by government
The opposition People’s National Party has reiterated that Jamaica is experiencing an economic recession, despite claims to the contrary by the governing Jamaica Labour Party.
Spokesman on finance Julian Robinson stressed that there are different types of recessions, and that 2 consecutive quarters of negative economic growth, indicates a recession.
In making his contribution to the budget debate in parliament yesterday, Mr Robinson chided the JLP administration for using the false narrative of the effects of Hurricane Beryl, as the reason for the poor growth rate.
He said regardless of the definition, the reality is that citizens are experiencing economic hardships.
