Posted: March 28, 2012

An election petition is to be filed tomorrow (March 29) against the winning People's National Party candidate for the Yallahs Division, in the St. Thomas Parish Council, Constantine Bogle.

Losing Jamaica Jabour Party candidate for the Yallahs Division Courtney Lewin, is seeking to unseat Mr. Bogle claiming that he was not duly nominated to contest the election.

Mr. Lewin states that based on the Parish Council Act, Mr. Bogle should be disqualified from being elected a councillor, because of reported dealings with the Council.

For his part, Mr. Bogle has described the legal manoeuvrings, as baseless.

He says he has no personal contractual arrangement with the St. Thomas Parish Council.

Mr. Bogle, who is President and Founder of the Paul Bogle Foundation, says it is the foundation, of which he is Director, has the arrangement with the Parish Council.
