Year-to-date traffic at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston is down by 3.2 per cent when compared to 2025.

Chief Executive Officer of PACKAL, Sitara English-Byfield, gave the update at the NMIA Airport Forum yesterday.

She said that while the decline can be attributed to several situations, the major contributor is linked to the reduction in flights associated with Spirit Airlines before they officially ceased operations on May 2.

Mrs. English-Byfield also pointed to a reduction in the number of overall flights from the United States into the NMIA.

The U.S. is a major market for the airport.

Mrs. English-Byfield noted that cargo movement is seeing significant growth at the NMIA.
