A woman and child are homeless after fire gutted their home in Galina, St. Mary lastnight (July 24).

The blaze reportedly began shortly before 10:50 PM.

Officer in charge of the St. Mary Fire Department, Superintendent Andrew Wildman told IRIE FM news that when firefighters arrived on the scene, a four-apartment dwelling was seen engulfed in flames.

He said firefighters are still trying to ascertain the cause of the blaze and the estimated loss.
