Taxi operators attached to One Voice Taxi Association threaten to protest over Road Traffic Act
Several transport operators attached to the One Voice Taxi Association have threatened to withdraw services today (February 6).
This in a bid to signal to the government, their displeasure over the handling of key matters affecting the sector.
Among the issues is the newly implemented Road Traffic Act and their concern about some aspects of it.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the National Road Safety Council will meet this Thursday to review the regulations.
However, President of One Voice, Lorraine Finnikin says his members will withdraw service on Monday to indicate to the government, that they must address the issues urgently.
He says despite numerous attempts to have the government deal with the matters amicably, this has not been done.
Meantime, President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, Todss Egeton Newman, says his members will not participate in the protest.
