Taxi groups call on gov’t to rectify issues with PPV operator grant application portal
At least two taxi groups are calling on the Finance Ministry to move hastily, to rectify issues with the Public Passenger Vehicle, operator grants application portal.
Last Monday, the online portal was opened for applications for grants valued at 25 thousand dollars, to help operators cushion the rising cost of fuel.
Some 17,000 operators are to benefit.
However, shortly after being opened, applicants reported challenges with the portal which has now been closed.
President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, TODSS, Egeton Newman, says he is saddened by this.
Meantime, Media Liaison at the National Council of Taxi Associations, NCOTA, Dion Chance, told Irie Fm News that only about 2 members have been able to apply.
He is calling for the issues to be rectified as soon as possible.
