Grammy-winning dancehall icon, Beenie Man is among nine influential artistes to be highlighted on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk in recognition of their contribution to the global soundscape, during Black Music Month, observed annually in the US during June.
Beenie Man’s appearance on the unique concert series precedes the twenty fifth anniversary of his twelfth studio album, Art & Life, released on July 11, 2000.
Beenie Man shared the news in a social media post, while he did not disclose the date for his performance on the platform, the Sim Simma hit maker wrote that he was honoured to be featured on the concert series.
Keysha Cole, Wiz Khalifah and Cece Winans, Alex Isley, E-40, Amerie, Living Colour, and Stanley Clarke are the other industry giants, each celebrating a major musical milestone, who will make appearances on Tiny Desk throughout Black Music Month.
Other Jamaican artistes who have been featured on Tiny Desk include Protoje, Lila Ike, Chronixx, Sevana, Koffee, Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley and Sean Paul.
Tiny Desk is a live concert series hosted by NPR Music where artistes perform in a small intimate setting, typically at a small desk in an open office space at NPR headquarters.
