Entertainer Munga Honourable will have to wait until April 30 to plead his case in court, following a new development in his ongoing murder trial.
The artiste, who was arrested and charged in connection with the 2017 murder of Cleveland Smith, appeared in court yesterday, only to have the case deferred.
According to reports, a crucial piece of phone evidence revealed by the prosecution had not been disclosed to the defence, prompting the need for a new court date.
The case against Munga Honourable stems from a fatal altercation that occurred at a party in Ackee Walk, St. Andrew back in 2017, where Smith was allegedly attacked and killed by a group of men, one of whom was reportedly armed with a gun.
Reports are that Smith had previously attacked Munga Honourable with a machete.
In a social media post prior to his court appearance Munga Honourable shared a video of himself in a prayer-like pose, expressing the emotional toll the ordeal has taken on him. In the caption, he wrote about enduring “pain and painful memories” from the “unwarranted near-fatal attack” and the subsequent eight years of “accusations, charges, threats, legal fees, restrictions, and court appearances.” Munga Honourable reaffirmed his commitment to his innocence plea.
