“We can’t confirm or deny”, says the St. Andrew North police after Dancehall star PopCaan was reportedly involved in a tussle with the law enforcement officials on the weekend.
A video circulating on social media shows an alleged impromptu bike show along the Constant Spring roadway, which appeared to be barricaded. In the video, a police officer and Popcaan got into a tussle and had to be separated while onlookers videoed the incident on their smartphones.
When contacted, a Police Officer the St. Andrew North Division, tells Music News that they cannot confirm or deny the incident. We were directed to speak with the communications arm of the JCF- CCU. However, several calls to that unit have gone unanswered.
Meanwhile, PopCaan via X, formerly Twitter, seemingly addressed the situation. “Many are called, only a few are chosen, I’m a creation of God’s Greatness! I don’t fear and I know no failure. Don’t let nothing break or distract you from your path of Greatness. I don’t need to explain myself to people. Think whatever you want. Have a nice Monday”, he tweeted followed by the hashtag “Unruly State”.
Last month, the ‘Unruly Boss’ pleaded guilty to several charges including disorderly conduct and using abusive language after the police pulled the plug on his popular Unruly Fest event held in St Thomas in December. He was also fined $40,000 for breaching the Noise Abatement Act.
