Historian, broadcaster and reggae archivist Roger Steffens says it’s hard to believe that his plans to have a reggae museum in Jamaica are finally coming to fruition.
Steffens who owns the largest collection of Bob Marley memorabilia in the world, says he spent decades collecting artefacts relating to the King of Reggae and other legendary musicians because of a passion he developed over the years for the genre. His collection includes posters, recordings, music, album covers and other artefacts from Bob and other reggae legends.
The archivist says his decision to sell a vast portion of his Bob Marley collection came amid a lengthy six-year negotiation of him trying to acquire land in Montego Bay to house the museum honouring the art of reggae. He says his decision to sell the archive to Joe Bogdanovich came after offers from the government and another party fell through.
Steffens says Joe Bogdanovich has promised a world class museum and has revealed that Bob Santelli who built the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame has come on board as their senior consultant in building the museum.
