Shanieka Ricketts and Tajay Gayle were the Jamaican winners at World Athletics Continental Tour

World championships silver medalist Shanieka Ricketts and 2019 world champion Tajay Gayle were the Jamaican winners at yesterday’s World Athletics Continental tour bronze level meeting in Padova, Italy.

Ricketts, fresh from her 14.64 metre-performance that saw finish second  at the diamond league meet in Lausanne on August 26, did one better by leaping 14.72 metres to win the event ahead of Thea Lafond of Dominica who was second in 17.71 meters.

In the men’s long jump, Gayle won in a season best 8.26 metres….a performance that saw him into the top this season.

Andrenette Knight……the other Jamaican at the meet clocked 53.95 seconds for second in the women’s 400 metre hurdles….a time that saw her better the previous meet record set in 2005.

The event was won by American Dalilah Muhammad in a new meet record 53.84 seconds. 

Meanwhile over in the ISTAF World Athletics Continental tour silver level meeting in berlin, Olympic bronze medalist Megan Tapper….the lone Jamaican at the event…….ran 12.66 seconds for third in women’s 100 metre hurdles behind world record holder Tobi Amusan 12.45 seconds and American Tia Jones 12.58.
