Shai Hope at 14 is the highest placed West Indies batter in latest ICC ODI ranking
Fresh from his inclusion in the ICC ODI team of the year Shai Hope with a ranking of 14 is the highest placed West Indies batter in the latest release of the ICC one day international ranking.
Nicolas Pooran at 26 is the only other west indies batter inside the top 50 with Shimron Hetmeyer next best at 58.
Pakistan’s Babar Azam is the ICC number one batter ODI batter ahead of the South African duo of Rassie van der Dussen, and Quinton De Kock while Australia’s David Warner and Pakistan’s Iman Ul Haq round out the top five.
On the bowling side Alzari Joseph who was also named among the ICC team of the year is the highest placed West Indian at 18.
Akeal Hossien at 22 is the only other Caribbean player in the top 50 with Jason Holder next best at 55.
Mohammed Siraj meanwhile has become the world’s number one bowler in the men’s ODI rankings for the first time.
He replaced Trent Boult at the top after India swept New Zealand 3 nil at home.
Australia’s Josh Hazelwood is at number two followed by New Zealand’s Trent Boult and Australia’s Mitchel Starc with Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan rounding out the top five.
