Sha’Carri Richardson joins Gabby Thomas and Tara Davis-Woodhall as founding advisor-owners of ATHLOS Women’s Track & Field League

Reigning World 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson will join Olympic 200m gold medalist Gabby Thomas and Olympic women’s long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall as founding advisor-owners of the groundbreaking ATHLOS Track & Field League.

Founded by Alexis Ohanian, husband of American tennis legend Serena Williams, ATHLOS aims to spotlight female athletes as the sport’s new standard-bearers while providing them with unprecedented earning opportunities. The league will take place after the conclusion of the 2026 World Athletics season, featuring multiple meets across major cities and culminating in a final championship event.

“Gabby, Sha’Carri, and Tara represent a new generation of athletes who have put this sport on their shoulders and deserve to be compensated for being the standard-bearers,” Ohanian said in a statement. “We were focused on bringing them into the League as founding owners to ensure we’re building a League that our athletes will love.”

ATHLOS plans to reshape track and field through a team-based format created by athletes, for athletes, and tailored to appeal to today’s modern fans. The league’s multiple meets will follow the World Athletics season, which concludes with the World Athletics Ultimate Championships scheduled for September 11-13, 2026, in Budapest. While not all events will be part of the Ultimate Championships, ATHLOS will feature its own thrilling final championship event.

The 2025 ATHLOS meet returns to New York City’s Icahn Stadium on October 10, following the World Championships in Tokyo. The 2026 edition will add the women’s long jump to the program and has already confirmed Olympic gold medalist Tara Davis-Woodhall and Olympic bronze medalist Jasmine Moore as headliners.

Last year’s meet awarded a total of $663,000 in prize money, with winners of each event taking home $60,000. Runners-up and third-place finishers earned $25,000 and $10,000 respectively, while athletes finishing fourth through sixth received between $2,500 and $8,000.

ATHLOS’s star-studded lineup also includes Jamaican middle-distance standout Natoya Goule-Toppin, Masai Russell, Brittany Brown, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Mariedy Paulino, Amber Anning, and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, among others — all set to bring excitement and elite competition to the league’s inaugural season.
