Second meeting of Jamaica’s Constitutional Reform Committee now underway

The second meeting of Jamaica’s Constitutional Reform Committee is now underway.

The 14-member Committee led by Legal and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Marlene Malahoo Forte was named last Wednesday (March 22) and had its first meeting that day.

It will provide guidance and oversight to the Government during the Constitutional Reform process.

The Legal and Constitutional Affairs Ministry notes that the Committee is in phase 1 of the reform process, which focuses on the transition from a Constitutional Monarchy to a Republic, and related matters for the bill, for which a referendum is required.
