Representatives from UTECh’s Academic Staff Union locked in wage talks with Finance Minister

Representatives from the University of Technology Academic Staff Union UTASU are locked in a meeting with the Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke.

The meeting which began at around 4 pm is to facilitate discussions regarding the compensation review.

On Friday, some of UTECH’s Academic Staff signalled their intention to take industrial action tomorrow, if their wage related concerns are not addressed.

They claim that there are still issues with the restructured compensation system, and that some workers are getting less pay.

However, in a statement last evening, UTASU’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Tashieka Burris-Melville said the strike notice has been withdrawn, due to Dr. Clarke’s intervention.
